Dee on TV

While I was on vacation, the networks announced their midseason schedules.  Apparently they ganged up and collectively decided to make their midseason schedules as complicated as possible, because I’ve been looking at them for an hour and I’m only just getting them sorted out.  A bunch of shows are moving, a bunch more are premiering, and a chunk are going on hiatus to make room.  Also, just to help us out (not), both NBC and ABC have decided to launch three-hour comedy blocks on two different nights for the first time in 20 years.  In the land of confusing schedules (I mean, really, we’re all busy, who has the time for this?), I’d like to lend a hand sorting out which shows are going where and when you need to set or change your dvrs. 

Below is a list of shows that have upcoming moves, are going on hiatus, or are newly premiering.  In addition to the shows listed below, all other shows are or are nearly on hiatus for the Christmas holidays.  With a little luck, I’ll run a supplementary widget in the sidebar to help out with upcoming returns as shows start to return in January and throughout the winter and spring.  All times below are EST.

Returning shows

V: returns Jan 4 to Tuesdays at 9pm
Parks and Recreation: returns Jan 20 at 9:30pm

Unusual moves

Parenthood: returns Jan 4 for four episodes before going on hiatus until March 7
Human Target: returns Jan 5 and 12 for two two-hour episodes from 8-10pm, then moves to 9pm Jan 26
Lie to Me: returns Jan 10 with two-hour episodes, moves to 9pm on January 17, then goes on hiatus Feb 7
Fringe: returns Jan 28 on Fridays at 9pm
Glee: returns after the Super Bowl (approx 10:30pm) on Feb 6, then regular episodes Feb 8

The Cape: premieres on NBC Jan 9 at 9pm, then moves to Monday at 9pm Jan 17
Off the Map: premieres on ABC on Jan 12 at 10pm
Harry’s Law: premieres on NBC Jan 17 at 10pm until replaced by Parenthood on March 7
